Sports Premium

St Mary Bourne Primary School values PE and Sport highly and has had considerable success with our teams in competitions and local leagues over the last few years. Central to this success has been the School's focus on Leadership skills and behaviours. These skills and behaviours are embedded into everything we do in school and pupils are given the opportunity to develop these qualities still further though our Sports Leaders award.

Schools are given Sports Premium funding annually and must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.

There are 5 key indicators that schools should expect to see improvement across:

  1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity - the Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school

  2. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement

  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport

  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils

  5. Increased participation in competitive sport

At St Mary Bourne Primary School we use our funding across these five areas. Please read the Sport Premium statements below for further details.
